Formed by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman after the ashes of Operation Ivy, the classic lineup featured Armstrong, Freeman, Lars Frederiksen, and drummer Brett Reed. Tim Armstrong became known for his raw, raspy vocals and survival-through-punk story, while Lars Frederiksen brought snarling street anthems and a larger-than-life punk persona rooted in loyalty and brotherhood.
