Rancid are the Berkeley punk torchbearers who helped revive street punk in the 1990s, blending grit, melody, and working-class pride. Formed by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman after the ashes of Operation Ivy, the classic lineup featured Armstrong, Freeman, Lars Frederiksen, and drummer Brett Reed.
