In 2001, Watanabe launched his eponymous label, Junya Watanabe, which retained much of the experimental spirit of Comme des Garçons, but with his unique twist. His designs feature deconstructed garments, unexpected shapes, and an emphasis on material manipulation—concepts he learned from Kawakubo. His connection to Comme des Garçons helped Watanabe establish a strong reputation within avant-garde fashion circles, blending traditional Japanese craftsmanship with contemporary, subversive design. This gorgeous sweater from Junya’s Autumn-Winter 2006 show features distressed hems repaired with safety pins to give a rockstar grunge look. No flaws, great condition.
